The author discloses why it is so naturally appealing to the human head and describes the essential tenets of storytelling. For example, because we are highly averse to doubt, we often embrace simplistic 'cause and effect' connections without challenging them.
The issue is, when the story is not accurate, such features of narratives becomes 'traps'. She provides four methods to escape narrative- formula infrastructure so that we do not fall into a 'no-way out storytelling snare'.
