It is the supplement case to Netflix: Designing the Netflix Prize (A). The CEO, Reed Hastings in (A) part of the case, have to devise a strategy to enhance the algorithms for Netflix’s movie recommendation software in managing a crowdsourcing contest. This case traces the route of from 2006 when Netflix developed the platform till 2009 to the awarding of the highest prize. It also describes the consequences of the contest, and the challenges from a contest in effective implementation of a unique idea.
