Big Shoes to Fill HBR Case Solution
DISCUSSION:
It is fact that when an experienced head leaves your hand, things become complicated.
In worlds famous company INNOSTAT (manufacturer of prosthetic limbs and surgical implants), Stephanie Fortas was hired as the CEO after the sudden death of Jack Donally. Jack did earn a lot of respect rather than affection. Due to the increased competitiveness, the company has been struggling. Its profit margins have declined and it remains no more innovative. Moreover, many competitors have improved by introducing their own patents, which is pushing INNOSTATE down. It has been four years; company has not introduced even a single product yet. The reorganization plan to solve this struggle was also rejected by the board. It was to improve company’s position and related problems. Frank Timoshotsky is also not working cleverly. He was given Jack’s position.
Stephanie considers firing Frank can help save this company. Stephanie can also try working on rejected plan. What should she do is not clear!
