One of the most pressing challenges facing European governments today is high unemployment. At the same time, global companies are becoming increasingly difficult to find experienced and qualified professionals who can help them compete in the global business environment. Creative and collaborative approach to employment known as flexicurity seemingly offers a solution to both these issues, emphasizing flexible work schedule and comprehensive lifelong learning schemes, helping companies and employees to thrive in a volatile business environment. In this article, the author identifies two areas of flexicurity, which are allocated for harvesting immediate benefits and unleashing powerful social effect: more diverse contracts, and continuing education for all categories of workers. But flexicurity involves more than the formulation of policy, it is a completely new concept of work.
