Vodafone is a cellular giant operating in various countries. Vodafone bid for Mannesmann was the largest cross-border hostile take over attempt. When Mannesmann announced their intention to buy Orange, Vodafone attempted to acquire Mannesmann itself, but this attempt was rejected by the management. Vodafone then though of acquiring Mannesmann through hostile takeover.
