This case describes the effects of the Asian financial crisis on the Siam Commercial Bank (SCB), the fourth-largest Thai bank. It describes the measures taken by the Thai government to restore confidence in the Thai financial sector strategy for SCB to raise additional capital on international markets. The case allows the analysis of how the financial crisis, coupled with more stringent requirements of the government could lead to a vicious circle of non-performing loans, the lack of new credit expansion and recession.
