Hewlett-Packard has hired a new CEO in 1999 to bring it into the future. Despite the strong heritage of success, the company has faltered since the late 1990s, the slow growth of sales and reduced profitability. Observers believe that HP does not respond properly to the competitive threats to your server, printer and personal computer markets. Industry conditions were also deteriorating, suggesting tough times ahead. Director General felt a sharp step was needed to improve the position of HP in the market.
