Large discrepancies exist between the two elite teams of developers technologies Crutchfield chemical engineering from the point of view of motivation and creativity. To investigate, Paul Burke, director of corporate development technologies, commissioned a study of the day-to-day dynamics in these teams (Lumen and absorb teams). Using a value of 10 days of electronic diary collected from all members of the two teams, the study shows a wealth of information about the behavior of the team leader, team member thoughts and behavior, the dynamics of the team and the project. Summing both diary data and the identity of the members of both teams, the study provides Burke with a clear dilemma of raising and maintaining motivation and creativity in teams of high-level professionals working on complex projects in a complex organizational environment.
